NEW YORK: 11 May, 2026
The Synodal Commission on the study of the life, legacy, and veneration of the late Hieromonk Seraphim (Rose) continues

From April 29 to May 5, 2026, the Council of Bishops of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia was held at the convent of the Holy Martyr Elizabeth, where a report on the work of the Synodal Commission studying the life, legacy, and veneration of the late Hieromonk Seraphim (Rose), chaired by His Grace Bishop James of Sonora, was discussed.

This was revealed by His Grace Bishop Irenei of London and Western Europe in an interview after the conclusion of the Council. According to Vladyka Irenei, the process of collecting and studying materials about Fr Seraphim is ongoing. The commission studies the life, works, and spiritual heritage of the late cleric, collects testimonies from people who knew him personally or received help through his prayers, and also reviews liturgical texts and iconographic materials.

Bishop Irinei noted that the hierarchs of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia, recognizing the righteousness of Fr Seraphim's life, look with hope to the further development of the process of his canonization.
