NEW YORK: 26 January, 2026
Theophany at the Synodal Cathedral of Our Lady "of the Sign"

On the great feast of Theophany – the Baptism of the Lord – the solemn divine services were held in the Synodal Cathedral of the Sign in New York City. On Sunday, January 18, the Eve of Theophany, Metropolitan Nicholas of Eastern America & New York officiated Vespers after Liturgy and the festal All-Night Vigil that evening.

On Monday, January 19, the Divine Liturgy was likewise celebrated by the First Hierarch of the Russian Church Abroad, co-served by cathedral clergy: dean Archpriest Andrei Sommer, Archpriest Seraphim Chemodakov, Hieromonk Theognost (Kogan), and Protodeacon Serge Arlievsky, as well as Priest Anatoliy Revitskyy (diocesan cleric).

The Synodal choir sang beautifully at the service under the direction of conductor Vadim Gan.

The festal services were held under the protection of the Protectress of the Russian diaspora – the wonderworking Kursk Root Icon of the Mother of God.

The civic holiday on Monday made it possible for a large number of parishioners and believers from other churches to come and pray. Most of these confessed and communed of Christ’s Holy Mysteies.

Upon conclusion of Liturgy, His Eminence greeted all with the great feast of Theophany. Metropolitan Nicholas then performed the Great Blessing of the Water and urged everyone to reverently keep and partake of the holy water.
