Archbishop Kyrill of San Francisco and Western America leads the festivities of the patronal feast of the Cathedral of the Transfiguration of the Lord

On August 17-19, 2025, His Eminence Archbishop Kyrill of San Francisco and Western America made an archpastoral visit to the Transfiguration of the Lord Cathedral in Los Angeles, CA. On the 10th Sunday after Pentecost, after Divine Liturgy, His Eminence held a meeting of the parish council. Important issues of parish life were discussed at the meeting, as well as the development and operation of the parish school.

On Monday, August 18, on the eve of the Feast of the Transfiguration of the Lord, Archbishop Kirill led all-night vigil. He was assisted by the deputy rector of the cathedral, Archpriest Yanis Terauds, and Hieromonk Peter (Karakozoff), Personal Secretary of His Eminence. On Tuesday, August 19, His Eminence celebrated Divine Liturgy with the clergy and guests in holy orders. After the Liturgy and the procession, Archbishop Kirill visited the festive concert and meal prepared by the Tabor Youth Group and the sisterhood of the parish.

The concert program featured folk songs as well as classical pieces performed on the piano and violin. After the festive lunch, His Eminence visited the renovated parish courtyard, where an exhibition of the artistic images competition of the Transfiguration of the Lord Cathedral was organized. The parish made extensive preparations for the event: the doors of the church were renovated, the interior decor and territory were spruced up, and the dining hall and courtyard were styled in a Russian manner. The youth choir prepared a song and choreographic repertoire in advance. Additionally, an updated official website for the parish was created for the anniversary celebrations — russianchurch.us.
