WESTERN AMERICAN DIOCESE: 7 July 2022
The head of the Antiochian Orthodox Christian Archdiocese of North America prays at the relics of St John (Maximovich) the Miracle-worker

On Wednesday, 29 June, 2022, His Eminence Metropolitan Joseph, Primate of the Antiochian Orthodox Christian Archdiocese of North America, along with a group of clergy and laity, visited the Cathedral of the Mother of God “Joy of All Who Sorrow” in San Francisco. He was warmly greeted by His Eminence Archbishop Kyrill of San Francisco and Western America of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia.

After venerating the uncorrupted and healing relics of St John (Maximovich) of Shanghai and San Francisco, Metropolitan Joseph and his pilgrims prayed at vigil. The archpastors exchanged warm greetings, emphasizing the need for mutual support during these difficult times, and the importance of frequent joint prayerful and fraternal communion. Metropolitan Joseph also expressed his condolences to Archbishop Kyrill, the clerics and laity of the cathedral on the repose of Metropolitan Hilarion of blessed memory, wishing them all God’s aid.

The pilgrims and cathedral clergy and laity then shared a trapeza meal.
