The First Hierarch Greets Kurskans on their 970th Anniversary
The First Hierarch of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia, Metropolitan Laurus, sent a letter of congratulations to the mayor of the city of Kursk. Kursk has a special significance for the Russian Diaspora since it was there that the Mother of God revealed Herself in Her Miracle-working Kursk-Root Icon, the Protectress of the Russian Diaspora.
In his letter, Vladyka Metropolitan congratulated all the residents of Kursk, wishing them good fortune in their celebrations and also appealed for them to restore the name of “Bol’shaya Moskovskaya” Street, presently named “Lenin Street.”
