In
November, the Diocese of Australia and New Zealand will Celebrate
the 20th Anniversary of the Consecration of His Eminence Archbishop
Hilarion
This year marks the 20th anniversary of the consecration of His
Eminence Archbishop Hilarion of Sydney, Australia and New Zealand.
This important date will be celebrated with solemn services with
the participation of all the clergymen of the Diocese, and a banquet
in His Eminence's honor will be held at the Russian Club in Stratfield.

Archbishop Hilarion, was born Igor Kapral on January 6, 1948, in
Canada. In 1972, he graduated Holy Trinity Seminary in Jordanville,
NY. In 1974, he was tonsured a rassophore monk, and in 1975, he
was ordained to the hierodeaconate by the late Archbishop Averkii
(Taushev, +1976), whose cell-attendant he was. In 1976, Bishop Laurus
of Manhattan ordained him as a hieromonk. That year, Fr Hilarion
finished Syracuse University, where he earned a Master's Degree
in Slavic Studies and Russian Literature. On December 10, 1984,
he was consecrated Bishop of Manhattan at the Synodal Cathedral
of Our Lady of the Sign in New York, and appointed Deputy Secretary
of the Synod of Bishops. In 1996, he was appointed Ruling Bishop
of the Australian Diocese and elevated to Archbishop. In 2003, His
Eminence was awarded the right to wear a diamond cross on his klobuk.
