The celebration of Mid-Pentecost in Russian Gethsemane

In the Gospel reading on the Sunday of the Samaritan Woman, the Lord offers the sinner the Water of Life, which once consumed would leave the person forever sated. During Mid-Pentecost, we ask the Lord for this Living Water, that of faith and piety. For this purpose, the Holy Church sanctifies water during these bright days of Pascha.

On this day, Archimandrite Roman (Krassovsky), Chief of the Russian Ecclesiastical Mission in Jerusalem of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia, celebrated Divine Liturgy at the Convent of St Mary Magdalene, Equal-to-the-Apostle, in Gethsemane, Jerusalem. The minor blessing of the waters was then performed in the courtyard. Fr Roman was joined by Hieromonk Feodor (Kiritze) and Hierodeacon Gerasim (Kotovsky). Praying at the service was Abbess Elizabeth (Smelic) and her nuns.
