DIOCESE OF AUSTRALIA AND NEW ZEALAND: April 22, 2019
The memory of Russian Orthodox soldiers who served in the Australian army during World War I is honored

On April 25, Australia marks ANZAC Day (Australian and New Zealand Army Corps), remembering the soldiers who participated in the first battles in April 1915 in Gallipoli and Turkey, fighting later in France and Belgium during World War I.

This year, the Russians of Sydney, Australia, will mark the memory of Russian participants in the war at Manly Cemetery, which boasts a monument to Peter Chirvin. A Russian-language interview on the matter is posted here.
