NEW YORK: February 10, 2015
The Primate of the Russian Church Abroad Celebrates a Final Liturgy Before Departing to the Diocese of Australia and New Zealand With the Kursk-Root Icon of the Mother of God "of the Sign"

On Saturday and Sunday, February 7-8, 2015, the Sunday of the Wayward Son and the feast day of the Holy New Martyrs and Confessors of Russia, His Eminence Metropolitan Hilarion of Eastern America and New York, First Hierarch of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia, celebrated divine services at the Synodal Cathedral of Our Lady “of the Sign” in New York. His Eminence was joined by the cathedral’s clergymen and others: Senior Priest Protopriest Andrei Sommer; Protopriest Alexander Krassovsky, Rector of SS Peter and Paul Church in Santa Rosa, CA; Protopriest Vasiliy Raskovskiy; Priest Paul Ivanov of the Church of the Mother of God “Inexhaustable Cup” in Brooklyn, NY; Hieromonk Evtikhy (Dovganiuk); Hieromonk Tikhon (Gayfudinov); Protodeacon Nicolas Mokhoff; Deacon Nazary Fataliev and Deacon Denis Lvov, along with other visiting deacons.

Peter Fekula led the Synodal Cathedral Choir. After Liturgy, Vladyka Hilarion read a sermon to the worshipers. Divine Liturgy was celebrated in the presence of the Kursk-Root Icon of the Mother of God "of the Sign.” The miracle-working icon will be taken by the Primate of the Russian Church Abroad to the Diocese of Australia and New Zealand on February 9.
