Renowned Russian Bible Scholar to Speak at Holy Virgin Protection Cathedral

As reported by the official website of Chicago’s Holy Virgin Protection Cathedral, its clergymen and parishioners are being given the unique opportunity to attend lectures by Doctor of Philology Andrei Sergeevich Desnitsky, a renowned Russian Biblical scholar, translator, publicist and writer.

Mr Desnitsky has worked at the Institute for Orientology at the Russian Academy of Sciences since 1994, and also at the Institute of Biblical Translation since 1999, where he is a consultant for translators of Holy Scripture into the languages of the former Soviet Union. He has authored several books and over 50 scholarly articles, not counting popular materials; he also lectures on the Bible.

Lectures will be held on: Sunday, March 16, 2014 , at 4 pm and on Wednesday, March 19 , at 7:00 pm , in the Cathedral parish hall. The lecture is titled “The Bible in the Life of Contemporary Orthodox Christians.”

Admission is free.
