DIOCESE OF CHICAGO AND MID-AMERICA: October 15, 2013
The Mid-American Diocese is Preparing for the Feast of St Jonah of Hankow

The feast day of St Jonah of Hankow is celebrated on October 7/20. In 2013, this day will fall on a Sunday, and since the full service to St Jonah had only been available in the English language, His Grace Bishop Peter of Cleveland, Administrator of the Diocese of Chicago and Mid-America of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia, gave his blessing for several qualified translators to translate the service, originally composed by Reader Isaac Lambertsen, into Church Slavonic. (The troparion, kontakion, oikos, prayer and kathisma hymn and sticheron to the saint were composed in Church Slavonic in 1996 in preparation for his canonization by His Eminence Archbishop Alypy of Chicago and Mid-America and Protopriest Serafim Gan, which were used by Brother Isaac.) The collaborative translation of the full service was done by Yulia Kamchatnova, Natalia Kondrashova, Alexander Kamchatnov, Reader Michael Gill and Roman Vershinin. The final service, blessed by Bishop Peter, can be downloaded free of charge here:

It is requested that all those who use this translation commemorate the translators in their prayers. The English-language version is found here: http://www.saintjonah.org/stjonahservice.htm
