Bishop Jerome of Manhattan Performs a Parting Moleben and Akathist Before the Kursk-Root Icon

On Tuesday evening, May 1, 2012, His Grace Bishop Jerome of Manhattan performed a parting moleben and akathist before the miracle-working Kursk-Root Icon of the Mother of God at the Synodal Cathedral of Our Lady “of the Sign.” His Grace was joined in the service by Mitred Protopriest Alexei Ohotin, Protopriest Andrei Sommer, Hieromonk Evtikhy (Dovganyuk) and Priest Alexandre Antchoutine, along with Protodeacon Nicholas Olhovsky, the keeper of the Icon, and a large gathering of worshipers. Peter Fekula directed the Cathedral Choir.

Fr Nicholas will accompany the icon to Germany today, where it will be greeted by His Eminence Archbishop Mark of Berlin and Germany, His Grace Bishop Agapit of Stuttgart, along with the clergymen, monastics and laity of the diocese. On Friday evening, May 4, a moleben and akathist will be performed before the icon at the Cathedral of the Holy New Martyrs and Confessors of Russia. The icon will be on display for veneration there during services until Sunday, and will be brought to visit the homes of parishioners and believers. The icon will then make a tour of parishes and monasteries of Germany and Great Britain.
