A Clergyman of the Russian Church Abroad Joins His Holiness Patriarch Irinej in Divine Service
A visit by His Holiness Patriarch Irinej of the Serbian Orthodox Church culminated with a Divine Liturgy he served on April 22, 2012, Thomas Sunday, in the biggest church of the diocese in Mississauga, a western suburb of Toronto. His Holiness was joined by His Grace Bishop Georgije, the local Serbian Ruling Bishop; His Eminence Metropolitan Sotirios, Exarch of the Patriarch of Constantinople in Canada; His Grace Bishop Iov of Kashirsk, Administrator of the Russian Patriarchal Parishes in Canada; His Eminence Archbishop Nathaniel, head of the Rumanian Diocese within the Orthodox Church in America; and His Grace Bishop Dositej, Serbian Bishop of Britain-Scandinavia. Among the 22 concelebrating priests representing the fraternal Local Orthodox Churches was Mitred Protopriest Vladimir Malchenko, Rector of Holy Trinity Cathedral of the Canadian Diocese of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia in Toronto.
At the end of services, His Holiness blessed the new frescoes of the Cathedral of All Serbian Saints. At the trapeza held in honor of His Holiness and his delegation, Fr Vladimir relayed the greetings of His Eminence Archbishop Gabriel of Montreal and Canada of ROCOR. Serbian Ambassador Zoran Velic was present at Liturgy, as were Consul General of Serbia Vladimir Pavlov and representatives of federal and municipal authorities.
