Archbishop Kyrill Makes a Second Archpastoral Visit to Mexico

From January 16-18, 2012, His Eminence Archbishop Kyrill of San Francisco and Western America, whose diocese includes communities in Mexico, traveled to Mexico City with Reader Peter Karakozov.  

On Monday, January 16, the delegation was greeted at the VIP room of Mexico City Airport by His Excellency Valery Morozov, Russian Ambassador to Mexico, as well as clergymen of Holy Trinity Monastery of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia. 

That evening, Vladyka Kyrill had a meeting with members of the newly-formed Deanery of Mexico to discuss plans for the future and organizational matters. By decision of the Synod of Bishops of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia, Fr Nectarios was appointed the Archbishop’s Dean in the Republic of Mexico.

On Tuesday morning, January 17, Archbishop Kyrill participated in the 80th birthday celebrations of the His Eminence Metropolitan Anthony of the Antiochian Orthodox Church in Mexico, celebrating Divine Liturgy together with other Antiochian bishops as well as His Eminence Archbishop Justinian of Naro-Fominsk, Administrator of the Patriarchal Parishes of the Moscow Patriarchate in the United States.

That evening, Vladyka Kyrill performed a moleben to the Most-Holy Mother of God at Holy Trinity Monastery, which is in his jurisdiction, at which he elevated Fr Nectarios to the rank of Archimandrite, awarding him the mitre, ornamented cross and abbot’s staff.
