The Kursk-Root Icon of the Mother of God Departs for Australia

On Wednesday, November 2, 2011, the Kursk-Root Icon of the Mother of God “of the Sign,” accompanied by its keeper, Deacon Nicholas Olhovsky, departed for Australia. Early Friday morning, November 4, the feast day of the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God, the main holy icon of the Russian diaspora will be greeted at the airport by the Dean of the Sydney Deanery, Protopriest Nikita Chemodakov, and brought to Our Lady of Kazan Convent in Sydney, which will celebrate its feast day.

The miracle-working icon will remain in the Diocese of Australia and New Zealand until December 8.
