NEW YORK: October 18, 2011
The Russian Church Abroad Prepares to Mark the 40th Anniversary of the Death of Protopriest Seraphim Slobodskoy

On Saturday, November 5, 2011, the feast day of Holy Apostle James, Brother of the Lord and first Bishop of Jerusalem, the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia will prayerfully mark the 40th anniversary of the repose of Protopriest Seraphim Slobodskoy, the renowned author of The Law of God and other books. On this day, His Grace Bishop Jerome of Manhattan, Vicar of the Eastern American Diocese, will officiate at Divine Liturgy of St James, followed by a pannikhida, at Holy Virgin Protection Church in Nyack, NY. Afterwards, a memorial luncheon will be held, which will include speeches and presentations made by those who knew Fr Seraphim, and will feature a new book published by the Russian publishing house MOST on the life and legacy of Fr Seraphim, written by Olga Tolstaya and Alexei Slobodskoy, the son of the eminent pastor.

Divine Liturgy in Nyack will begin at 9 am.
