Metropolitan Hilarion Performs a Monastic Tonsure and Ordination to the Deaconate

On the evening of Tuesday, June 8, 2010, His Eminence Metropolitan Hilarion, First Hierarch of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia, prayed at matins at the Church of the Mother of God "Joy of All Who Sorrow" in the city of Geelong, Australia. He then tonsured Monk Peter (Jigalin) with the name Panteleimon. The next morning, during Divine Liturgy, His Eminence ordained Monk Panteleimon as a hierodeacon.
