CANNES: March 22, 2010
The Council of Archangel Michael Church Meets 

On March 16, 2010, on the second anniversary of the repose of His Eminence Metropolitan Laurus (1928-2008), the fifth Primate of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia, members of the Council of Archangel Michael Church in Cannes, France, met for a regular Parish meeting. Protopriest Serafim Gan, a member of the Council and Secretary of the late First Hierarch, served a memorial litany for the late hierarch along with Priest Maksim Massalitin, the Rector of the church. Those in attendance remembered that Vladyka Laurus had visited the Parish a month before his blessed repose in order to help resolve continuing legal issues. He also gave the Parish Rector a new antimension, which is now being used for divine services, 

On March 17, the Parish Council convened at the parish house, attended by its President and six members. The Council set the date for the annual parish meeting at April 25, 2010, reviewed parish dues and several internal disciplinary matters.

The decision made in February by the Synod of Bishops of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia regarding the retirement of His Grace Bishop Varnava (Prokofiev) and Hieromonk Seraphim (Barantchikov) was accepted, and they were removed as members of the Association of Archangel Michael Church. In addition, Leonid Bilunov, Dmitry Terekhin and Konstantin Voronin were removed from the Council of the Association. Added as members of the Council were its new Rector and President, Fr Maksim, Hegumen Vasily (Paskie), Andrei Beliuchenko, Andrei Molchanov and Maksim Khrabrykh.  

Also added as members of the Association were Liudmila Bondarenko, Zinaida Safonova, Anton Odaisky, Alexander Akmentinsh and Irina Verigina.  

The Council heard a report by the President of the Association on the work of the administrative committee, approving its work as well as a proposal to submit the new Council membership for approval by the General Meeting of the Association. 

The members of the Council concluded its work by expressing its satisfaction with the results of the meeting.
