The Synodal Choir Under Peter Fekula Sings at an Akathist Before the Icon of the Mother of God “Pantanassa

On October 22, 2010, an akathist was performed before the Icon of the Mother of God “Pantanassa” [Queen of All], which is known for healing cancer, at Holy Protection Cathedral in New York. The service was led by His Grace Bishop Michael of New York and New Jersey (Orthodox Church in America) along with His Grace Bishop Jerome of Manhattan of the Russian Church Abroad, and the Cathedral and visiting clergymen. The Synodal Choir of the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Sign sang under the direction of Peter Alexeevich Fekula. The music was composed by Reader Robert Sirico, a composer and choir director at St John the Theologian Church in Shirley, NY. He composed this akathist in memory of his late wife Elizabeth, who died of cancer on Pascha 2009.

Photographs of the event can be viewed at the official website of the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Sign : en.nycathedralofsign.org
