Delegates of the Confraternity of Orthodox Youth Prayed before the Kursk-Root Icon of the Mother of God

With the blessing of Archbishop German of Kursk and Rylsk, the second convention of the Confraternity of Orthodox Youth convened, beginning on July 10, and proceeded in procession to the Hermitage of the Root.

During these days, participants in the convention are visiting the holy places of the Diocese of Germany of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia, to which, with the blessing of the Synod of Bishops, the miraculous Kursk-Root Icon of the Mother of God "of the Sign" has been brought from Canada.

After Germany, the young people will take part in the solemnities of the feast of St. Sergius of Radonezh, at the Holy Trinity-St. Sergius Lavra, where each delegation, including youth from all the dioceses of the Russian Church Abroad, will present examples of their national cuisine.  The convention will include roundtable discussions, encounters and cultural events.

It is proposed that the Orthodox youth also travel to the Ukraine, where, on July 28, solemn divine services and various events will take place in honor of the holy and right-believing Prince Vladimir, the Enlightener of Rus'.  There, participants will meet with His Beatitude, Metropolitan Vladimir of Kiev and All Ukraine and visit the Pochaev Lavra.
