DIOCESE OF SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA AND NEW ZEALAND: December 5, 2007
Resolution of the 15th Diocesan Conference of the Australian and New Zealand Diocese of the ROCOR
Held on 23rd and 24th November 2007 in the God-preserved city of Sydney at the Sts. Peter and Paul Cathedral.
The delegates of the 15th Diocesan Conference of the Australian and New Zealand Diocese, headed by our archpastor, His Eminence, Archbishop Hilarion, heartily greet His Holiness, the Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia, Alexis II and His Eminence, Metropolitan Laurus, the first Hierarch of the Russian Orthodox Church Abroad, and with gratitude to the Lord God express our sincere joy and contentment in regards to the reestablishment of Eucharistic communion within the Local Russian Orthodox Church, which triumphantly took place on the 17th May of this year and which brought the much-awaited spiritual unity and freedom of communion between Russian Orthodox people both in the homeland and the diaspora.
The fact that the Act of Canonical Communion was not accepted by a small group of clergy and laity within our diocese was noted with sadness, for which reason there was a unanimous expression of hope that in time the aforementioned might re-evaluate their decision and return to the bosom of the canonical Russian Local Church.
From all the talks and reports given it has become obvious that the life of the diocese on all levels, including: church-parish, religio-educational and missionary - continues to flourish and spiritually develop, for which cause the Conference gives thanks unto God.
The delegates of the 15th Diocesan Conference send their prayerful well wishes to His Holiness, the Patriarch Alexis and to His Eminence, Metropolitan Laurus for good health, peace and spiritual quiet and for ever grace-filled success from our Pastoral-leader the Lord Jesus Christ in all their efforts on the harvest field of Christ.
