Saint John arrives

SAINT JOHN
Born in Russia St. John was forced by the godless powers to leave his Homeland. In Yugoslavia he was tonsured a monk. From the day of his tonsure he no longer lay down to sleep - he would rest while sitting or
praying on his knees.

In 1936 St. John was consecrated bishop to China. In Shanghai he attended all services, served Divine Liturgy daily, visited the sick and established
an orphanage.

After the communists took power in China, Archbishop John and his flock fled to America and Australia. St. John was assigned to the see of Western Europe, where he restored the veneration of many forgotten Western saints

In 1963 he was called to San Francisco in order to complete the construction of the Holy Virgin Cathedral. He reposed in 1966 and was interred in a sepulcher beneath the Cathedral.

For over 25 years, faithful flocked to the sepulcher with their prayers and pleas and could attest to the power of Saint John's prayers.

10 years ago Saint John was glorified. Faithful from all over the world continue to flock to St. John's relics and, as before, few leave with their prayers unanswered.

The Organizing Committee of the 2004 World Youth Conference is honored to dedicate the upcoming Conference to Saint John. The

Glorification of St. John
Conference will climax with the solemn celebration of the 10 Anniversary of St. John’s Glorification
