The Day of Blessed Metropolitan Anthony (Khrapovitsky)

March 30th marked the 140th anniversary of the birth of Metropolitan Anthony (Khrapovistky) of blessed memory—the eminent hierarch who was a key figure of the 20th century, who made an invaluable contribution to the treasury of Orthodox theology, thanks to whom the legacy of Russian Orthodoxy was preserved in its purity.

The rector of the Odessa Theological Seminary, Protopriest Valery Alekseev served a commemorative pannikhida on this day. Later, in a classroom of the St. Michael’s Diocesan House, he read a lecture on Metropolitan Anthony, which he had already given at an international philosophical conference in Odessa University. The lecture was well received. It is hoped that this day of Metropolitan Anthony becomes a traditional event in the life of the Odessa faithful.

Pastoral Retreat of the Diocese

St. Michael’s Diocesan House in Odessa was the site of the Pastoral Retreat of the Odessa and Crimean Diocese on 27-28 March. His Grace Bishop Agathangel was joined by 14 priests and deacons in performing the liturgy of the pre-sanctified Gifts. After liturgy, the annual Diocesan Conference was held, which covered topics relating to the life of the diocese and its parishes.
