In Memory of SS Florus and Laurus the Martyrs
On 31 August, the First Hierarch of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia humbly marked the day of his heavenly protector in Holy Trinity Monastery
On the feast day of SS Florus and Laurus the Martyrs, the First Hierarch of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia, His Eminence Metropolitan Laurus, humbly and monastically marked the memory of his heavenly protector. Vladyka Metropolitan served the 6 a.m. liturgy in the main church of Holy Trinity Monastery along with Archimandrite Florus (a member of the monastery brotherhood who shares the namesday), Fr. George Kallaur and Protodeacons Joseph Jarostchuk and John Onopko.
Many worshippers gathered at the church: the brethren of the Monastery, neighbors and visitors from afar. After divine liturgy, Vladyka Laurus was congratulated on behalf of the monks by Archimandrite Luke and then, in concelebration with the visiting clergy, a service of supplication was served to SS Florus and Laurus. After the service and breakfast in the monastery refectory, His Eminence Metropolitan Laurus welcomed visitors at his office.
At 3 p.m. Vladyka Laurus and the clergy went to greet the revered copy of the Pochaev Icon of the Most Holy Mother of God at the Assumption Church at the cemetery.
