Temperley

The parish of the Protection of the Mother of God in Temperley, Buenos Aires, has incurred a big loss. After a lengthy illness, Tatiana Nikoalevna Sedliarevich, the director of the church choir and the founder of the parish school, died on Sunday, 24 August. Besides relatives and close friends, a multitude of people from the new emigration, whom Tatiana Nikolavena out of a pure heart had helped without compensation, came to bid farewell to a mentor and friend. We believe that the Lord will grant the Kingdom of Eternal Life to his handmaiden, Tatiana, for her good works and tireless care for those near her.

And with joy, we want to say that the work begun by Tatiana Nikolaevna lives on and is developing. New children are coming to the school, and this means that their papas and mamas are returning to the bosom of our Orthodox Church. On Thursday, 28 August, the blessing of our kindergarten was performed by Protopriest Fr. Igor Bulatov. Also, on Sunday, the first lessons took place with the teacher, Lydia Michailovna Boichenko.

May God grant the heavenly Kingdom and eternal rest to the newly-translated Tatiana.
With love and gratitude,
All the parishioners of the Church of the Protection of the Theotokos

Missiones

A woman, the daughter of a deceased parishioner of the Church of the Exaltation of the Cross of the Lord in the city of Obera, Missiones Province, Argentina, laid claim to the church's territory. She instituted legal proceedings with the demand that the territory on which the church is situated, and even the church itself, be handed over to her. As the basis for this demand, she advanced the argument that her parents had taken care of the church over the course of many years. The church is served by the clergy of the Holy Trinity Cathedral in Buenos Aires, and the church property was registered in the name of the Russian Orthodox Association, which was founded almost a hundred years ago by the “Apostle of South America,” Protopresbyter Constantine Izraztsov. The Russian Church in Argentina was registered under this name after the Revolution. The court decided the case concerning the church in Obera in favor of the Russian Orthodox Association.

On Sunday, 3 August, the Divine Liturgy was served in the Church of the Exaltation and then a moleben [service] of Thanksgiving (see photo above). The excellent work of the Argentine attorney, Mr. Benchiarutti, should be mentioned, who, upon learning that someone wanted to seize a Christian church, zealously undertook the case and brought it to a successful end. After the conclusion of the court case, Mr. Benchiarutti donated his fee to the church, and he himself thanked the clergy for giving him the opportunity to defend one of God's churches. Mr. Benchiarutti is considered to be the most outstanding attorney of the city of Obera. Glory to God for all things!
