The First Divine Liturgy is Performed at the Community of St Seraphim

With the blessing of His Grace Bishop Peter, the first divine liturgy was performed on Saturday morning, October 2, 2004, at the new Mission of St Seraphim of Sarov in Okemos, MI. Some twenty worhipers attended the liturgy, which was held at the chapel in the church of St Paul Episcopal Church, generously provided to the new mission for Saturday services. The first divine liturgy was conducted by Priest Viktor Trotsky (Holy Ghost Church, Sterling Heights, MI) and Priest Gregory Joyce (St Vladimir Orthodox Church, Ann Arbor, MI). After divine liturgy, tea was offered, during which the organization of a parish school was discussed. Fr Gregory had provided a great deal of help and support, along with the parishioners of St Vladimir Church, who had donated to the Community an altar cross, a Gospel, candles, incense and sheet music.

Thanks to the efforts of the parishioners Oleg Lesov, Vladimir and Olga Andreev, Alexandra and Anatoly Kravchenko, Denial Zack, and Dmitri and Svetlana Gorelov, services for the Community have commenced.
