The Head of the Protection Convent in Canada is Elevated to the Rank of Abbess.

In accordance with the decision of the Synod of Bishops of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia, the head of the Holy Protection Convent in Bluffton, Alberta, was elevated to the rank of abbess during Great Lent by Bishop Kyrill of San Francisco and Western America. At present, there are six residents at the skete. Bishop Kyrill performed a general Holy Unction in the Church of All Saints in Calgary, and also at the women's skete. Many parishioners of Edmonton came for the Holy Unction and for confession. At the skete, Bishop Kyrill tonsured nun Feodora to the Great Schema--after several days, she passed away. During the time of his visit to Alberta, Bishop Kyrill also met with the dean of the Province of Alberta, Protopriest George Primak.
